“In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;”

(Ephesians 1:7)

Without the shedding of Christ’s Blood , there is no remission of sins.

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

(Hebrews 9:22)

Sin is a serious issue with a Holy God, regardless how much we trivialize or qualify it. The Father laid upon His Son the sins and iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53) because there was no other way for a JUST God to justify sin unless there was a corresponding ransomed price. The great Atonement reconciled the Father to guilty sinners and by faith believing sinners are reconciled and justified to the inscrutable holiness of God.

What a glorious redemption to be purchased by the incorruptible blood of Jesus.  Now, we have confidence that we belong legally, body and spirit,  to a Sovereign and loving God.

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

(I Corinthians 6:20)

Absalom was the third son of king David. Absalom publicly and deeply wounded his dad by occasioning the murder of his evil brother Amnon. Absalom fled because the fear of royal retribution. Absalom sought asylum with his grandpa on his mother’s side. After two years, General Joab convinced David to bring the favored son back to the capitol, Jerusalem. David allowed his son Absalom to come back without punishment; but, Absalom was forbidden the pleasure of seeing his dad’s face, no fellowship, no reconciliation, and no genuine forgiveness for two full years.

“So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king’s face.”

(II Samuel 14:28)

Praise the Lord, this is not the way our Father in Heaven forgives. We are not only His children by redemptive right we are EVEN forgiven.  We enter not only into a Covenantal Relationship, we enjoy a fellowship with all rights and privileges through the blood of Jesus.

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.”

(I John 1:3)

So, it follows that we should have fellowship with fellow believers for the same reason!

“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

( I John 1:7)

Forgiveness too, amazing! In other words, God is not just stuck with me cause I happen to be His adoptive child, NO!! I am truly forgiven, loved, longed for. Unlike Absalom, there is no probation once we confess and come home to Father. He drapes a new robe on our boney shoulders, buys us new shoes, restores the family ring on our finger, and kills the fatted calf to fatten us up so we fill out the new robe. The extravagance of God’s Grace bothers some people, because they have never felt it necessary for their supposed lesser crimes. But for those of us who see ourselves as chief sinners, we love it!!

Oh, may God help us to grow in this grace and realize we are FORGIVEN TOO!

“In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”

(Colossians 1:14)
